SEPS Summer Program
Scholastic success plays an enormously important role in achieving life goals. Students who read, spell, and write well are better prepared to meet the ever-increasing demand for academic excellence. Traditional school settings are rarely able to provide the specialized instruction required by those with unique learning styles. Most individuals with academic difficulties face problems simply because they learn differently.
For over 30 years, SEPS Learning Center has provided a supportive, academically appropriate education environment with programs that are customized to fit each student's particular learning style. SEPS Summer Programs incorporate the same proven philosophy of individualized instruction and intensive courses that is employed in SEPS Day School Program. The summer programs are designed to help students improve the skills that will enable them to reach their full potential. Flexible scheduling provides an opportunity for clients to select a combination of summer classes and tutoring session that will meet each student's specific needs while also accommodating other summer activities, such as camps, summer jobs, and family vacations. SEPS Learning Center's Summer programs are structured to help students of all ages and abilities achieve the success they desire. Individualized programs are designed to help student master reading, writing, spelling, and mathematics. Course packages give students the opportunity to study special interests, to focus on strengthening academic trouble areas, or to prepare for the up-coming school year.
Summer is a great time for students to have a comprehensive learning and achievement diagnostic evaluation to determine their academic strengths and weaknesses. The administration of several nationally standardized tests can help determine those areas in which a client may need assistance. A SPES evaluation lasts approximately 2-3 days. Clients receive a detailed written report which includeds a personal history, educations and medical information, test results and observations, plus recommendations and accommodations (valid for 3 years).
Tutoring provides students of all ages the opportunity to strengthen skills or learn difficult concepts. Students can benefit form individualized program development and establishing goals before the first tutoring session begins. Intensive, one-on-one tutoring is available at any time during the year. Clients can set up regular tutoring sessions or schedule them on as-needed basis.
The Summer Day School Program is specifically designed to accommodate busy schedules. Students can receive needed services yet still have ample time to enjoy their summer activities. Students may attend summer school full-time, or set up a program that combines a variety of hours, days, weeks, or months that suits their schedules. The Summer Day School Program is Available Monday – Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. A shortened version of our Day School program is available.
SEPS Learning Center offers independent study courses through Indiana University. Programs are designed around a curriculum of correspondence courses which enable students to receive a full academic experience while completing course work at their own pace. Because the programs are fully accredited, students are able to earn required and elective credits for both high school and college.
During the summer with a break from busy school schedules, students have more time and energy to focus on improving their language and listening skills, which are the foundation of all learning. The Fast Forward family of intensive, computer based programs helps students of all ages learn faster. Fast Forward Programs use patented technologies that "train the brain." These powerful programs adapt to each student’s skill level, helping them increase language and reading abilities in just weeks, rather years.
Adult reading seminars are designed to benefit adults of all reading abilities, and particularly those whose previous reading experience has been difficult. Seminar curricula focuses on each reader’s specific learning needs. Attention is given to all aspects of language arts, including reading, writing, spelling, and composition. Participants usually enjoy the encouraging, non-threatening methods of teaching used at SEPS Learning Center, which provide the best possible opportunity for adult learning success. Program sessions have flexible hours that meet a variety of client work schedules.
Summer Reading Camp curriculum provides children and young adults with a challenging, fun, and effective way to strengthen their reading and language arts skills. Intensive, individualized learning strategies help students troubleshoot problem areas and advance to more complex reading material.
Summer Reading Camp includes an interactive computer session, educational game playing, lunch (student provided) and practical work on reading, spelling, and composition. Payment for services and programs is expected before services are rendered. SEPS does not accept insurance. We do accept major credit cards.
